A whole new generation of Dad’s have been introduced to Babywearing in the last couple of years thanks to the smash hit movie The Hangover. Sales of front carrying buckle carriers have increased pretty dramaticaly for a number of companies since the film came out and they show no sign of slowing down.
In the film the great Zach Galifianakis carries around a baby named Carlos in a Babybjorn carrier, and more and more young Dads have begun following the trend and have started to try their hands at Babywearing. Thanks to the film Babywearing has lost a lot of it’s ‘socks and sandles’ hippy image and has certainly become a lot more hip.
Modern Dad’s are no longer afraid to carry around a little one in a Soft Structured Carrier, sling, or Mei Tai, in fact if you just look around on google you will find loads of carrier’s being designed more specifically for blokes reflected in the design, colours, and fabrics used.
Here are some images of some of the Babywearing memorabilia which has come out to accompany the movie The Hangover, and also a great fancy dress idea where using his Babybjorn a couple of pairs of sunglasses, and a fake (or is that real) bushy beard has given some guy a terrific and easy Fancy dress costume.
Looks like Babywearing is here to stay, and if you can’t beat them I guess you have to join them!
